Brazil has surpassed the symbolic milestone of 2 million jobs generated in the solar energy sector, according to data released by... ABSOLAR (Brazilian Photovoltaic Solar Energy Association). The new milestone was reached in less than three years after the first million.

According to ABSOLARThe photovoltaic market is currently experiencing a downturn, both in large-scale projects and in self-generation systems. In 2025, added power is projected to fall by 25,6%, totaling 11,6 GW, compared to 15,6 GW recorded in the previous year.
Among the main factors explaining this scenario are the cuts in renewable energy generation from power plants without compensation to the developers, and the obstacles in connecting small systems, due to alleged limitations in the grid and power flow reversal.
Even in the face of recent adversity, the ABSOLAR It points out that the sector maintains robust numbers. Since the beginning of its expansion in the country, solar energy has already accumulated more than R$ 296,1 billion in investments, in addition to reaching 67 GW of installed capacity and generating R$ 92,8 billion in revenue for public coffers.
Currently, solar power is the second largest source in Brazil's electricity matrix, accounting for approximately 25,3% of the total installed capacity. The technology is present in all regions of the country, with small, medium, and large-scale power plants.
Job profile
According to ABSOLAROver 2 million jobs were generated by more than 20 companies operating in the sector in Brazil. Opportunities are spread across areas such as administration, sales, legal, engineering, training, and industrial installation and operation.

- São Paulo: 229 thousand
- Bahia: 158 thousand
- Paraná: 126 thousand

According to the 2025 Annual Report on Renewable Energy and Jobs, prepared by IRENA (International Renewable Energy Agency), solar energy is the source that generates the most jobs among renewable technologies in the world.
