Next Thursday (12), the 27th Ordinary General Assembly of CCEE (Chamber of Electric Energy Commercialization) will be held, an occasion in which agents of the electric sector will meet to elect the new members and alternates of the entity's Board of Directors.
The election takes place more than two years after discussions began regarding the new governance. According to the new CCEE statute, approved by... ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency) on January 20, the number of seats on the board will be expanded from five to eight members.
Another change is that the board members will no longer hold executive positions. Operational management will be handled by an executive board composed of six members. The vote is scheduled for 13 PM. If there is no quorum, a second call will be made at 14 PM.
The process will be confidential, using an encrypted digital platform. CCEE has not officially released the names of those nominated. Prior to the assembly, an independent consultancy conducted a preliminary analysis of the candidates to verify any potential impediments and compliance with the qualification requirements stipulated in the bylaws.
Under the new governance model, the Ministry of Mines and Energy will have the right to appoint four members to the board, including the chairman. According to Agência Infra, the government has suggested reappointing the current chairman of CCEE, Alexandre Ramos.
The news portal O Fator, on the other hand, reported that Ramos was among those considered to replace Reynaldo Passanezi as president of Cemig. According to Agência Infra, the other names indicated by the government were Arthur Valério, former executive secretary of the Ministry of Mines and Energy; Ricardo Tilli, former director of Aneel; and businessman Carlos Eduardo Zarzur.
The other four seats on the board will be filled by market representatives, divided into four categories: generation, marketing, consumption, and distribution. After the election of the board members, the agents will also choose the six executive directors who will be responsible for managing the Chamber.
The restructuring of CCEE's governance was defined by the government with the publication of Decree No. 11.835, of December 20, 2023. The measure also expanded the Chamber's responsibilities, allowing it to operate in new markets and in energy certification activities. The approval of the new statute took almost two years and underwent several revisions requested by Aneel before being finalized.
