2026 World Cup: 12 out of 16 stadiums use renewable energy.

Survey of Canal Solar reveals which World Cup arenas invested in energy efficiency.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup, to be held between June and July in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, will have a large portion of its stadiums operating using clean energy sources.

A survey carried out by Canal Solar This shows that 12 of the 16 stadiums that will host matches in the tournament already use renewable energy in some way, whether through large installed photovoltaic systems or even projects related to energy storage and efficiency.

One of the main stadiums on the list is the Mercedes-Benz StadiumOn AtlantaConsidered one of the most sustainable sports arenas in the world, the stadium has a capacity of approximately 71 people, will host eight World Cup matches, and features over 4 solar panels installed, in addition to advanced water and energy efficiency systems.

Another highlight is the Lincoln financial field, the Philadelphia, which will host six matches of the tournament. With a capacity of 67 spectators, the stadium operates with more than 11 solar panels and also uses wind turbines installed on the arena's structure itself.

Already MetLife StadiumThe stadium, venue for the 2026 World Cup final, features the so-called "Solar Ring," a structure with approximately 1.350 solar panels installed on the arena's roof. Nova JerseyIt has a capacity of over 82 people and will host eight matches, including the tournament final.

O Levi's Stadium, located em Casa Particular in Santa Clara (In the San Francisco and Silicon Valley region), it also figures among the leading examples of distributed generation in sports. The arena has more than 1.500 solar panels distributed throughout its structure and intelligent energy management systems. The venue has a capacity of approximately 68 people and will host six games of the competition.

Another stadium with integrated renewable energy generation is the Gillette stadiumOn in MassachusettsThe arena combines solar power generation with a fuel cell power plant installed within the sports complex. The stadium holds approximately 65 spectators and will host seven World Cup matches.

Already BBVA StadiumOn MonterreyIt has environmental certifications and systems aimed at reducing energy consumption. The arena holds approximately 53 spectators and will host four matches of the tournament.

O NRG StadiumOn HoustonThe stadium also utilizes solar energy in part of its operation, especially in parking areas and charging infrastructure for electric vehicles. The venue has a capacity of approximately 72 people and will host seven matches of the tournament.

Em Kansas City, in the state of Missouri, the GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium It has hundreds of solar panels installed and systems considered more energy efficient. The arena has a capacity of approximately 76 spectators and will host six World Cup matches.

Already sofi stadium, in the region of Los AngelesThe company is betting on energy efficiency, natural lighting, and the purchase of renewable energy credits to offset part of its operational emissions. The arena, one of the most modern in the world, holds approximately 70 people and will host eight World Cup matches.

No Texas, AT&T Stadium It also uses mechanisms linked to indirect renewable energy and has obtained certification. LEED Gold Focused on operational efficiency, the stadium has a capacity of over 80 people and will host nine matches, the highest number among all the arenas in the tournament.

Another highlight is the Lumen FieldOn Seattlewhich features solar installations integrated into the event center attached to the stadium. The venue can hold approximately 69 people and will host six World Cup matches.

Finally, the BC PlaceOn VancouverThe stadium closes the list, with its electricity generation largely based on hydroelectric power. Located in the province of British Columbia, the stadium has a capacity of approximately 54 people and will host seven World Cup matches.
