ABGD (Brazilian Association of Distributed Generation) met this week with representatives of the MME (Ministry of Mines and Energy) to present proposals aimed at solving current challenges in the electricity sector.
The meeting was attended by the National Secretary of Electric Energy, Gentil Sá; the General Coordinator of Electric Energy Distribution, Aline Eleutério; and members of the MME technical team.
ABGD's president, Carlos Evangelista, counselors Christino Áureo, Daniel Maia and Bruno Menezes, and Noemi Araujo, responsible for institutional and governmental relations, participated.
At the time, the entity advocated the integration of distributed generation with energy storage systems as a measure to reduce peak demand, alleviate pressure on the electricity grid, and optimize service during peak hours.
The proposed model provides for rapid implementation (between four and six months) and competitive costs, with adequate economic signaling. ABGD also highlighted the possibility of autonomous and independent distribution system operators (DSOs) operating.
According to Evangelista, the objective is to build an objective and viable proposal for all agents in the sector.
“The initiative has also been discussed with ANEEL, ONS, and EPE. We consider this an effective and strategic market solution for the current situation, preserving the safety of consumers protected by Law 14.300/22 and bringing benefits to all users of the Brazilian Electric System," he stated.
