A ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency) set up a special cabinet for monitor vandalism on power transmission towers. In this space, all complaints will be received and processed.
According to the regulatory body, at least three attacks on power towers were recorded in the last four days.
O first case took place on Sunday (8), in Ariquemes (RO), around 9:30 pm, when a tower on the Samuel-Ariquemes transmission line was knocked down and two were twisted by the fall of the first.
The ANEEL bulletin states that “there are signs of vandalism”. In turn, Eletronorte, the company responsible for the transmission line, stated that the structure was “destroyed”, with “signs of sabotage”.
O second incident occurred on Monday (9) at around 12:13 am, in Medianeira (PR), where a tower at the Itaipu plant was knocked down and three more were damaged.
Already the third occurrence happened at 00:40 on the transmission line of Madeira Complex, which connects the hydroelectric plants of Jirau, in Porto Velho (RO), and Santo Antônio, in Sertãozinho (SP).
Evoltz, the company responsible for the line, reported that it found “signs of sabotage” in the fall of the tower, after verifying that two cables that support the structure had been cut.
According to ANEEL, in None of the three areas had weather conditions that could have caused the towers to fall.
Due to what happened, the Agency started to carry out a “differentiated operation” to increase electroenergetic safety.
To the measures include increasing the sending of energy between regions of the country aiming to “minimize or even avoid the operation of special protection schemes, whenever possible”.
