A ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency) released the schedule for activating tariff flags for the year 2022. The first of these will be in February, which will be released on January 28th and will apply to consumers with TSEE (Social Electricity Tariff).
For other Brazilians, it will remain in force until April, the water scarcity flag, worth R$ 14,20 for every 100 kWh/hour. Currently, consumers exempt from the highest tariffs are under the green flag, which does not involve costs for the consumer.
At the beginning of the year, the Federal Government expanded the TSEE beneficiaries from January 2022, because of the new regulation of ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency). Currently, more than 23,5 million people are entitled to the benefit, which gives a discount on the electricity bill for low-income families.

Tariff flags 2021
In total, Brazil had four increases implemented by ANEEL in the value of the tariff flags in 2021, due to the effects of the biggest water crisis in the last 91 years. In January, when the flag in force in the country for all consumers was yellow, the extra charge was R$1,34 for every 100 kWh consumed.
The value remained stagnant until April 30, when the first increase was announced, with the activation of the red flag, at level 1, at a cost of R$4,16 for every 100 kWh. About a month later, on May 28, the second increase in invoices came, with the tariff flag changing levels again: going from red 1 to red 2.
The new value, therefore, rose to R$ 6,24 for every 100 kWh consumed, but it did not last for long, as in the following month, on June 29th, the value was readjusted by 52%, starting to cost R$ 9,49. The last change was announced at the end of August and put into practice from September 1st, with the creation of the unprecedented Water Scarcity flag, which raised prices to levels never seen before.
