The month of October will have a green tariff flag, with no extra costs on electricity bills. According to ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency), favorable conditions for hydroelectric generation have maintained the green signal since April 2022.
The decision was released by the Agency on Friday (29).
Sandoval Feitosa, general director of the Agency, assessed that the scenario benefits from lower generation costs. “The energy generated is cheaper. There has been more rain in the reservoirs, and then we can count on hydroelectric plants, which have a lower generation cost than other sources. Not to mention the advancement of wind and solar plants, especially in the Northeast of the country,” he said.
ANEEL constantly updates its projections for the activation of tariff flags and, with the data collected so far, there is an expectation that the green flag will be activated by the end of the year.
The green flag is valid for all consumers of the SIN (National Interconnected System), a network of electrical energy transmission lines that connects plants to consumers.
