BNDES launches credit program for energy efficiency projects

Initiative will offer R$ 330 million to finance renewable energy projects in Brazil

O BNDES (National Bank for Economic and Social Development) launched a new credit program that will offer approximately R$ 330 million for financing projects energy efficiency in Brazil.  

O FGEnergia (Credit Guarantee Program for Energy Efficiency) aims to promote projects that increase energy efficiency (with reduced energy consumption) and renewable energy generation, such as solar and wind. 

According to BNDES, the new program can be applied to cover the bank's onlending lines or the accredited banking partner's own lines. “Its use does not consume the limit of the partner bank with BNDES”, highlights the institution.

FGEnergia rules:

  • The guarantee granted by the program may cover up to 80% of the loan value, which must be a minimum of R$ 50 thousand and a maximum of R$ 3 million per company;
  • Coverage terms vary from 12 to 84 months, with a grace period of 24 months;
  • Project aimed at micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs).
