With an increase of 77% in revenue, Aldo Solar announces Juliano Ohta as new CEO

With bold goals for 2022, former CEO of Telhanorte arrives to bring even more innovation to the solar market

The sector is experiencing unprecedented growth in the Brazilian market and the solar energy became the third largest source in the national electricity matrix, with 16.3 GW of operational power, the majority of which, 11.3 GW, in GD (distributed generation).

It is in this scenario that the distributor Aldo Solar celebrates record sales and growth. In the 1st half of this year alone, the company had increase of 77% in revenue, compared to the same period in 2021.

With growth, the company reached mark of 285 thousand generators sold in the country since 2016, when it entered this market. This growth was supported by launches brought by Aldo to the Brazilian market, such as the agreement distribution of 2 GW of power from Tiger Pro family modules, the largest ever signed by Jinko outside of China.

Another big announcement was Aldo's entry into the MLPE technology with the agreement of distribution of microinverters from Chinese company Deye. According to the company, in just six months, the company sold 46 thousand units, taking the lead in this segment.

Still according to the company, by the end of the year, Aldo's projection is to sell another 150 thousand inverters. For the second half of the year, the great expectation is to distribute 600 MW of Jinko's new Type N Tiger Neo modules, which arrived on the market first hand through Aldo and are now available for pre-sale exclusively.

With all these new developments, Aldo's estimate is to have a growth of 50% compared to the results of the 1st half of 2022.

Amid this scenario of growth and milestones in the company, Juliano Ohta arrives to take over as the company's new CEO. Aldo Pereira Teixeira, founder of Aldo Solar, remains firm as advisor and mentor, in addition to occupying a voting seat on the Administrative Council.

The change in management is the result of Brookfield's acquisition of 100% from Aldo Solar, a group with more than 120 years of history in Brazil and which manages around US$ 725 billion in assets in more than 30 countries. The acquisition was completed in September 2021.

Brookfield and Aldo Solar have profiles focused on sustainability and renewable energy. Together they will undertake efforts for the company to further expand its leadership in the Brazilian market and use all its influence, strength and size to bring more business to its customers and partners.

Aldo Teixeira states that he is very happy with the results of the 1st semester, with Ohta's arrival at Aldo and that he fully supports the new management. “The numbers recorded during these first months of the year prove that everything Aldo launches creates a market leader in Brazil. When we look back, we feel immense pride and a sense of duty accomplished by our 40 years of Aldo history. I am sure that Juliano will do a great job leading the company, reinforcing the values we have planted such as integrity, trust, transparency and, above all, always honoring what was agreed upon.”

Ohta arrives at Aldo with extensive experience in both distribution and retail, which gives him a very broad view of the entire chain. The executive was CEO for five years of Telhanorte Tumelero, the retail division of the Saint-Gobain Group in the country.

With more than 20 years dedicated to the French group, Ohta worked in different Group companies in Brazil and Europe, in areas such as sales, finance, operations, marketing, purchasing and logistics. He worked in consultancy and family business, and founded two companies at the beginning of his career.

With in-depth knowledge of distribution and retail, in addition to a strong entrepreneurial streak, Ohta has a degree in business administration from Fundação Getúlio Vargas, a postgraduate degree from Harvard Business School, in the United States, and a master's degree in entrepreneurship from ESCP, in France.

The executive is also an advisor to IDV (Institute for Retail Development), advisor emeritus to Instituto Capitalismo Consciente and member of YPO (Young Presidents Organization).

The executive states that he admires the success story of the company and what was built by Aldo over these years. “It is an honor to succeed him as CEO and I will work tirelessly to honor Aldo’s history and, at the same time, bring even more innovation to the Brazilian solar energy market.”

Today, with this repertoire, my career focus is to bring even more evolution to Aldo's processes. The company has many strengths that will serve as a basis for us to bring new products, new customers and new markets with the aim of decarbonizing Brazilian homes. Aldo is a rocket, and I hope to bring great momentum to go even further”, guaranteed Ohta.

Sustainability, inclusion and growth

“At Telhanorte, I was responsible for transformation and innovation projects, both in business – with new formats such as Telhanorte Já and Obra Já – and in organizational culture, especially in the formation of diverse, high-performance teams, including in management positions. I see in Aldo a great alignment with these efforts and a lot of potential to disseminate an increasingly modern and diverse culture, as well as sustainable”, projected the executive.

Another of Ohta's goals is to strengthen empathy with all partners, something that Aldo has always valued and will be reinforced. “We need to dedicate all the time necessary to listening to both our employees and our customers, and transform this practice into something permanent. Our main partner is the integrator, and we have the role of bringing not only leads to them, but also market intelligence, in order to help them do better business. We have great loyalty to the integrator, and now we will become a reference in the role of facilitator for them.”

“I want us to be a beacon for the entire sector – which is getting stronger after the approval of legal framework. We are already a reference, but we want to use all our influence, our strength and our size to bring even more business to the integrator and the sector as a whole”, concluded Ohta.
