Coremas solar complex hires suppliers to install 5 more plants

Complexo solar Coremas contrata fornecedores para instalar mais 5 usinas

The solar complex located in Coremas (PB), opened on the 17th, is continuing its expansion works and publishing supply contracts for the implementation of five more plants, all of them contracted on the free market.

Currently, with three 31.2 MWp plants in operation, totaling 92.6 MWp, the complex, owned by Rio Alto, has begun a new phase for the construction of five more plants that will total 156 MWp. Completion is scheduled for the first quarter of 2021. The total investment, which in total will amount to 11 parks, will be approximately R$ 1.5 billion.

Two suppliers have already been announced: the Spanish STI Norland and the Chinese Huawei. The first will supply 2,460 trackers, model STI-H250, dual-row, for the Coremas 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 plants. For the first three plants, installed in 2017, STI had already supplied 947 trackers, 254 of which of the multiline model H-1250 and the rest of the same STI-H250.

Huawei will be the artificial intelligence technology provider, generating 156 MW, corresponding to the five new plants in the complex. The company's FusionSolar 6.0+ solution will enable, for example, a reduction in LCOE (Levelized Cost of Energy) in more than 5%.

In addition, it has 760 string inverters, 24 transformer stations, maximum power point tracking system (MPPT) and IV curve diagnostic system.

According to Huawei, the solution is prepared to receive the SDS (Smart DC System) functionality, which uses an algorithm to integrate bifacial modules, trackers and multi-MPPT inverters.

The algorithm was developed based on normal and abnormal operating conditions of the electrical system. From this, Huawei created a model that integrates the artificial intelligence-based impedance reshaping algorithm, which increases the penetration rate of renewable sources, allowing inverters to provide greater support and bring more stability to electrical systems.

Bolsonaro highlights inauguration of solar complex

The inauguration was one of the topics that opened a presidential live broadcast, held every Thursday with topics of the week. When commenting on the topic, Bolsonaro highlighted the capacity of the Coremas solar complex.

“It’s a pretty big complex. The short-term forecast is to serve 300,000 homes with solar energy and the total area, once everything is ready, will be equivalent to 1,100 football fields. It is a private investment, just like Caldas Novas (MG)”, said Bolsonaro, during a broadcast on YouTube.
