O Ingleses Holiday Center Condominium, located in the Ingleses do Rio Vermelho neighborhood, in Florianópolis (SC), has joined the Free Energy Market and will save more than R$ 800 thousand per year on your electricity bill over the next 10 years.

The project, which has more than 100 apartments, joined the ACL (Free Contracting Environment) through the sales company 2W Ecobank. Guests and residents of the condominium will also have 2W electric vehicle chargers at their disposal.

In total, more than two thousand companies in the State of Santa Catarina are already ready and could migrate to the Free Energy Market, where the benefits of this contracting environment include potential savings on tariffs, migration to renewable energy, greater control and freedom to negotiate contracts and more efficient use of resources.

Industry in general, supermarkets, retail and wholesale trade and condominiums, are examples of sectors for which migration is already a reality.

Claudio Ribeiro, CEO of 2W Ecobank, all energy produced in Mercado Livre, with a focus on small and medium-sized companies, will be sold at a cost of up to 30% lower than that of the concessionaire.

Expansion of Mercado Livre

Currently, the Free Energy Market is restricted to just 0.03% of Brazilian consumers, since only customers with demand equal to or greater than 500 kW can participate in this market.

However, in September last year, the MME (Ministry of Mines and Energy) expanded the opening of this market through the publication of the Ordinance 50/2022, allowing all other consumers served at high voltage to purchase energy from any supplier from January 1, 2024.

In total, the CCEE (Electric Energy Trading Chamber) estimates a universe of 106 thousand consumer units that fall into this group. If everyone migrated, this would represent an increase of 350% in the number of ACL consumers.

As for the other Brazilian low voltage customers (Group B), what exists at this moment is a signal from the Ministry for the opening of the Free Energy Market for commercial consumers to take place in 2026, while the opening for all consumers should occur only in 2028.
