With the high demand from Brazilian consumers for solar energy systems seen in recent years, the photovoltaic sector should assume more stable growth levels in the next 12 months, with greater demand for synergistic solar technologies. electromobility, such as chargers electric vehicles, It is batteries for energy storage combined with solar panels.

The analysis is Marcelo Abuhamad, CEO of Bonö Group, a holding that brings together several companies in the energy sector value chain in Brazil. According to the executive, although the sector has registered growth in connections this year, as a result of sales in 2022, the pace has occurred more gradually compared to previous periods.

“In the coming years, the energy sector will continue to grow and should also be driven by the greater inclusion of solar sources in the energy matrix chain, by the ease and agility of implementing the technology”, he comments.

“There is still a lot of room for plants to grow in the country, as well as a lot of room for innovation in the sector, but this growth will occur more naturally. The tendency is that there will be more plants, both centralized and distributed, whose implementation costs are increasingly lower, improving payback and projected financial return for new plants. The growth horizon is enormous, as there are almost 100 million consumer units in the country and only 3 million supplied by photovoltaic systems”, adds Abuhamad.

For 2024, the executive believes that there will be more attractiveness and viability for electromobility. “The renewable energy market is of international interest, hence the call for so many facilities being allocated to the sector. And the expectation is to expand the use of photovoltaic energy not only to supply establishments and homes, but also to charge points for electric vehicles”, he highlights.

According to data from ABVE (Brazilian Electric Vehicle Association), sales of electric vehicles in the country had the best performance in history in this first half of the year. There were more than 32.2 thousand registrations from January to June 2023, 20% of the total number of VLEs in Brazil. The total fleet reached 158,678 VLEs by the end of the first half of the year, reaching a growth of 58% compared to the same period of the previous year.

This growth is accompanied by the greater presence of charging points. According to ABVE, the total number of charging stations in the country was approximately 3,200 public charging units, by the end of the first half of 2023. And the sector's perspective is to reach more than 10 thousand units by 2025, public and semi-public.

Abuhamad also states that this market, already consolidated in Europe, is being increasingly encouraged and absorbed by the rest of the world. “Brazil has purchasing capital power and access to credit to maintain increasing development. The trend in the coming years is to first accentuate mobility, vehicle charging infrastructure, and then, the growth in the use of battery bank storage systems”, he states.
