Celebrated this Monday (5), the World Environment Day was created by UN (United Nations) in 1972 with the aim of raising awareness on the planet about the importance of preservation of natural resources and the risks caused by the effect of global warming

However, even five decades later, measures and discussions on the topics still need to be intensified, since last year the global carbon emissions hit record and increased 0.9% compared to 2021, even with the growth of renewable sources, according to AIE (International Energy Agency).

In the entity’s understanding, more than ever it is necessary to continue investing in clean technologies, mainly solar energy, which had its capacity worldwide installed capacity increased by more than 500 times in the last 20 years.

According to the International Agency, the use of the font can reduce CO2 emissions in the world at six billion tons by 2050. In Brazil, more than 36 million tons of carbon have been eliminated with the installation of solar plants since 2012, according to mapping by ABSOLAR (Brazilian Association of Photovoltaic Solar Energy).

In addition to the alerts issued by the AIE, other studies and reports also reveal the urgency too much investments in renewable energy, with the emphasis always on the implementation of photovoltaic projects.

According to the DOE (United States Department of Energy), solar energy and the best source in the world when it comes to sustainability, as it emits 98% less CO2 than energy from fossil fuels.

Furthermore, a study in the scientific journal Nature Energy reveals that installing solar energy in buildings help to reduce carbon emissions by up to 19%, and can even improve air quality in cities.

The UN (United Nations), the implementation of photovoltaic systems reduces energy demand for cooling of the planet in 12%, also helping to contain the urban heat island and bringing benefits to everyone’s health.
