A Energy Cup, a company specialized in bottling, marketing and distribution of LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas), opened the first photovoltaic plant to supply its Mataripe (BA) unit.
In an area of 10 thousand square meters, the company's expectation is that the solar plant will generate up to 1,400 MWh per year under normal weather conditions.
According to the company, the energy generated by the project will guarantee the energy self-sufficiency of the unit, which becomes fully sustainable with local generation.
“This plant will contribute to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, while also providing cost savings for the company. We have a local team that will work together with the plate developers to ensure the monitoring and maintenance of the plant in accordance with the highest standards of safety and excellence”, he states. Due to the installation of the plant, Copa Energia received the Renewable Energy Seal, issued by IBDN (Brazilian Institute for the Defense of Nature), in partnership with A3, a company specialized in energy investment strategy, construction of plants and marketing.
“The impact of creating this first plant ranges from expanding the absorption capacity of new energy-consuming companies to creating new jobs in the sustainable energy market, promoting the economic and social development of the region”, he points out. Caio Turqueto, president of Copa Energia.
Copa Energia intends to open even more photovoltaic plants between the second half of 2024 and the first half of 2025. According to the company, the first wave of investment in photovoltaic plants has the total power of 3.8 MWp and supply consumption needs in the states of Bahia, Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, already under construction.
