Projections released, this Wednesday (07), by ABSOLATE (Brazilian Photovoltaic Solar Energy Association) point out that, in 2023, the source solar should generate more than 300 thousand new jobs across all regions of the Brazil.

According to the entity's assessment, the new investments generated by the sector may exceed the R$ 50 billion next year, including the large power plants and the systems of micro and minigeneration.

Altogether, it is estimated that more than 10 GW of installed power will be added in 2023, reaching a accumulated total of over 34 GW, equivalent to an increase of more than 52% over the country's current solar power.

Of the total 34 GW, 21.6 GW will come from small and medium-sized systems installed by consumers in homes, small businesses, rural properties and public buildings, while 12.4 GW will be in large solar plants.

By the end of next year, the prospects are also that the sector will have generated around 1 million jobs in Brazil since 2012, distributed among all productive links. Accumulated investments are expected to reach R$ 170.9 billion, with more than R$ 53.8 billion in public tax collection.

Calculation basis

ABSOLAR's projections were made based on a conservative scenario, considering macroeconomic factors, such as exchange rate and inflation, changes in federal and state governments, the effects of energy policies, such as Law No. 14,300/2022 and possible consequences of modernization of the electrical sector.

The challenges of availability of professionals and civil machinery and the possibility of new incentives for renewable sources in the country were also taken into consideration, as explained by Ronaldo Koloszuk, president of the Association's Board of Directors.

“We project consistent growth in solar energy in 2023, driven by increases in electricity bills and the benefits provided by the source to all Brazilian consumers. Photovoltaic technology has become increasingly popular in the country, reaching all consumer classes and causing a positive multiplier effect on society”, he said.
