More and more telephone operators are investing in solar energy. Live inaugurated a 4.77 MWp power plant in Campinas (SP), Tim, for example, will build 60 plants by 2021, and now Claro has announced that it will invest in another energy efficiency project.

The company signed a PPA (energy purchase) contract, for the next 12 years, to obtain 911 GWh of renewable energy power on the free market with Neonergia.

The consumption of the energy generated will supply 30 Claro headquarters, with 868 GWh destined for the Southeast and Central-West submarkets and 43 GWh for the South.

The project, which has an investment of R$ 457 million, is associated with the generation of the Luzia II and III photovoltaic park, of 149.3 MW, in the hinterland of Paraíba. The photovoltaic plants are expected to come into operation in the second half of 2022.

The initiative is part of the operator's sustainability program, launched in 2017, which foresees the use of renewable sources in all its operations and facilities.

Claro already has plants installed in several states, such as São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Minas Gerais, Piauí, Federal District, among others.
