Energisa presented a slight increase in the volume of energy consumed in the 4th quarter of 2024 in the captive and free market, with growth of 2,3% compared to the same period of the previous year (YoY).
According to an analysis by Santander, the increase was driven by high temperatures and heat waves that hit the company's concession areas, especially in the Central-West, Southeast and Tocantins regions.
Despite the positive performance, growth was partially offset by a high comparison base in the same period of 2023. Among the regions served by Energisa, the highlights were the Northeast and North, which registered increases of 6,5% and 2,5% YoY, respectively.
In the Northeast, performance was driven by Energisa Paraíba (EPB) and Energisa Sergipe (ESE), which recorded the highest percentage growth among the group's distributors, with increases of 6,7% and 6,1% YoY.
Falling energy losses
Another positive finding was the reduction in energy losses. During the period, total losses on injected energy decreased to 12,35%, compared to 12,84% in the third quarter of 2024, approaching the regulatory parameter of 12,26%.
Free market-led growth
According to the analysis of the Santander, free energy market was the highlight of the quarter, with a significant increase of 17,6% in consumption compared to 4Q23.
On the other hand, consumption in the captive market showed a slight drop of 2% in the period. Considering total volumes, including sales not yet invoiced, consumption increased by 2% compared to the same period of the previous year.
Among the consumer classes, the residential sector was the main driver of growth, with a 3,4% increase in the quarter. Industrial consumption also showed significant performance, rising 6,7% in the period. On the other hand, the commercial and rural sectors recorded declines of 0,6% and 2%, respectively.
