Unicamp (State University of Campinas) is hosting this week, between December 3rd and 5th, some of the leading names in the national and international energy sector during Energy Week 2025, an event organized by CEPETRO (Center for Energy and Petroleum Studies).
The event, restricted to invited guests, takes place in the Auditorium of the Faculty of Medical Sciences and focuses on the discussion of the future of energy, with a strong emphasis on topics related to the energy transition and the technologies that are reshaping the sector.
The meeting opened on Wednesday (3) with a panel that presented a global energy overview, bringing together research directors from Equinor, Shell and TotalEnergies, reflecting the growing interest of large companies in diversifying portfolios and advancing low-carbon projects.
Following that, the opening lecture was given by Angélica Laureano, Executive Director of Energy Transition and Sustainability at [Company Name]. Petrobras, which addressed the role of oil and gas in a scenario of accelerated change and the challenges associated with reducing emissions and advancing renewable energy sources.
Next days
Over the next few days, the event will continue to address strategic issues for the energy transition process, including electric mobility, bioenergy, energy storage, green hydrogen, carbon capture and use, as well as the potential of solar energy in Brazil.
The program also includes discussions on financing the transition, digitizing the industry, and safety in oil and gas production, reinforcing the breadth of topics that make up the sector's transformation.
According to the director of CEPETRO, Professor Marcelo Souza de Castro, Energy Week reinforces an institutional role that goes beyond academic discussion.
According to him, Energy Week highlights the important role of Unicamp, which is to create an environment where science, industry, and society can discuss the present and future of energy.
Castro emphasizes that this is an opportunity to showcase what is being produced on various fronts – from oil and gas to new transition technologies – and to discuss how this knowledge can help the country face real challenges in the sector.
The professor also points out that the event seeks to integrate different research centers of the university linked to CEPETRO, such as EPIC, ETRC, CINE and CEMOBE, in order to strengthen the exchange of knowledge and broaden the dialogue on academic initiatives that have a direct impact on the energy sector.
