In April this year, the ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency) released 199.9 MW in energy generation for commercial operation. Of this amount, 127.69 MW were from photovoltaic plants, representing 64.16% of the total. The data was released by the Agency last Friday (6).

The ANEEL report also showed that last month 58.8 MW were released in wind power plants and 13.44 MW in thermoelectric plants. There were increases in the states of Bahia, Minas Gerais, Piauí, Rio Grande do Norte and Roraima.

The Agency's highlight was the state of Minas Gerais, where, of the total released in April this year, approximately 100 MW were increased in photovoltaic plants alone.

Brazilian electrical matrix in 2022

According to the Agency, the amount obtained this year, of 1.55 GW, is equivalent to 20.3% of the increase in the energy matrix expected for this year, of 7.62 GW. Until May 2, twelve states in four Brazilian regions expanded their energy generation offer this year: Bahia, with 427 MW; Rio Grande do Norte, with 365.35 MW; and Paraná, with 189.40 MW.

Capacity installed

Until this Monday (9), the total installed power in operation in Brazil was 183,054,025.49 MW, according to data from ANEEL's SIGA (Generation Information System). Of the total in operation, 83.04% of the plants are from sources considered sustainable.

Renewable sources: solar energy is highlighted

Currently, the Brazilian electrical matrix has 8,591 photovoltaic plants, which together have a power of 4,982,182.61 kW (data obtained from SIGA until May 9, 2022). Furthermore, ANEEL's Generation Information System indicates that 102 projects are in the construction phase and 878 are in the construction phase that has not started, totaling 39,374,237.60 kW of granted power – power that the plant was authorized to operate.
