A Sunova Solar announced that it is investing in your factory in TOPCon cells, located in the city of Yibin, China – opened on January 5, 2024 – to increase production capacity and reach 9 GW annually. According to the company, this is equivalent to approximately 36,000 high-efficiency modules per day.

“Investing in our own cell manufacturing line is an important milestone in our strategy in long term and will reduce our dependence on other suppliers, thereby ensuring a consistent quality cell input for high-efficiency modules,” he said Mike Song, president of Sunova Solar.

“Furthermore, this allows us to meet you customers with advanced technology which we continually develop – providing greater control over the supply chain”, he highlighted.

More factory details

According to the manufacturer, the venture is a state-of-the-art, fully automated facility that allows the manufacture of cells of the three main sizes, i.e. 182 mm, 199 mm and 210 mm, to enable a wide range of applications.

With its 5G-AGV (automatically guided vehicle)-based mobile robot transport system, the company stated that the factory uses the latest flexible intralogistics automation solutions.

In conjunction with the 5th generation mobile network, which offers high reliability, speed and low latency capabilities, the performance and efficiency of AGVs used to transport materials within Sunova's new factory are further improved.

According to the company, cell quality is guaranteed through a series of different tests such as color and appearance grading, EL testing, IV electrical performance testing, as well as other reliability tests such as voltage and deterioration testing. from light.

In total, the project occupies an area of 107 thousand m², of which the cell production area corresponds to 67 thousand m². Currently, 560 people work on site and 420 frontline workers are employed at the production facility.

Cell production is powered by a rooftop solar plant and is designed with a concentrated water recycling system, which emphasizes Sunova's efforts to manufacture photovoltaic solutions under environmentally friendly conditions.
