A Neoenergia Pernambuco announced that it will install four charging stations electric bicycles on the island of Fernando de Noronha.
The electricity consumed by the equipment will be generated through solar panels installed on the roof of the structures, which will be donated to the state government to save on electricity bills.
According to the company, chargers will begin to be installed in August this year and can be used in free way by users.
The expectation is that the system developed by the PPE (Energy Efficiency Program) of Neoenergia Pernambuco, regulated by ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency) will be fully completed and start operating by October.
Each of the four stations will have six connections, totaling 24 charging points. They will be located in front of Praça Flamboyant, in the Floresta Nova neighborhood; close to the Mergulhão Restaurant, in Porto; in Praça do Trinta and close to the ICMBIO headquarters.
This initiative is part of a series of actions developed by the company in the archipelago, with the aim of promote the electric mobility and encourage electricity savings.

Another initiative outside the distributor's PEE is Neoenergia Pernambuco's sponsorship of Island Bike, which has 13 rental bikes in the Archipelago.
By the end of August, a fifth charging station, also with photovoltaic modules.
“We are investing in the development of sustainability and environmental preservation solutions for Fernando de Noronha”, stated João Paulo Rodrigues, director of Institutional Relations at Neoenergia.
“The installation of an infrastructure for the use of electric bicycles directly contributes to more sustainable mobility, offering a different travel possibility that is highly sought after by tourists in paradisiacal places like Noronha”, he highlighted.
Electric vehicles and energy storage
In addition to installing bicycle chargers, Neoenergia is taking 18 EVs (electric vehicles) to the Island through the Trilha Verde Project, which aims to identify, evaluate and contribute to the development of solutions and business models aimed at electric mobility for the archipelago.
These cars will be available to inns, rental companies, institutions that operate on the island, administration, technical teams from the dealership and other businesses linked to tourism. The intention, according to the company, is to analyze the use of cars in each sector of the local economy.
Trilha Verde also plans to install 12 vehicle charging stations. The supply of these stations will be carried out through photovoltaic generation from the two new plants.
The total installed power of the plants will be 100 kWp and the first of them has already been completed. “This capacity is approximately three times greater than the project’s initial need,” Neonergia said in a statement.
The surplus, in this case, will be injected into the distribution network, expanding the use of a renewable source by consumers in Noronha.
Another highlight is that, to allow the use of clean energy even at times when there is not enough solar generation, a energy storage system with a power of 100 kW/200 kWh.
