The Infrastructure Commission of Senate will analyze a bill which aims present a electricity tariff for three months to people affected by floods and flooding.

The proposed PL 709 / 2024, by Senator Cleitinho (Republicanos/MG), is to guarantee financial relief and help damaged families in the recovery of areas hit by natural disasters. The text awaits the appointment of a rapporteur within the collegiate.

To proposal provides that consumers who suffer damage to their properties are considered, including electrical and hydraulic installations, as well as movable assets and domestic utilities present in these properties.

As expenses resulting from the exemption would be paid for by Funcap (National Fund for Public Disasters, Protection and Civil Defense).

O PL still wants those affected, in addition to the material damage suffered, do not have to face bureaucratic difficulties to obtain tariff exemption.

“With the aim of reducing bureaucracy and increasing its effectiveness, we propose that the Civil Defense or Military Fire Department reports are sufficient to prove the damage, with the consumer only being responsible for informing the public service concessionaires and permission holders of what happened. ”, explains the senator.

A processing of the proposal occurs in the week in which Rio Grande do Sul lives what Governor Eduardo Leite called "biggest disaster ever faced" by the people of Rio Grande do Sul, after heavy rains devastated several municipalities in the State.
