The Free Energy Market, a contracting environment where consumers can negotiate prices, terms, and choose their suppliers, has established itself as the main cost management tool for Brazilian industry and is consistently advancing in the commercial sector.
In November 2025, approximately 95% of all electricity consumed by industries in the country was contracted in the free market, compared to 93% recorded in the same month of the previous year. In the commercial sector, participation also grew significantly: 47% of electricity consumption in November 2025 occurred in the free market, compared to 41% in the same period of 2024.
The data comes from ABRACEEL (Brazilian Association of Energy Traders). According to the association's bulletin, this type of service ended November with 82.958 consumer units, a result of 21.547 new consumers added over 12 months, representing a cumulative growth of 35%.
São Paulo leads in the number of consumer units in the free market, with 26.215 registrations, followed by Rio Grande do Sul (7.567) and Paraná (7.428), reinforcing the concentration of migration in states with greater industrial and commercial activity.
