The inverter manufacturer Growatt recently announced the launch of a new product focused on storage, the APX HV battery. According to Lisa Zhang, the company's vice president of marketing, the equipment has five levels of protection.

“These are: active Battery Management System (BMS) for each cell, cluster-level power optimizer, integrated aerosol fire protection for each module, an arc fault circuit interrupter (AFCI) and a replaceable fuse for the entire system”, he pointed out.

Regarding system reliability, Lisa highlighted that the product applies a classification IP66 protection and intelligent self-heating technology to enable operation outdoors and at a low temperature of up to -10℃.

Other advantages

Another point emphasized by the executive is that the solution, integrated with the new soft-switching parallel connection technology, contributes more energy, eliminating the effect of electricity incompatibility between packages, allowing each module to be fully loaded and unloaded independently.

Furthermore, the equipment guarantees greater flexibility for installation and expansion with batteries of different charging states (SoC) and different batches, enabling cost savings O&M (Operation and Maintenance) and supply chain.

According to the company, the APX HV battery also features a redundancy design which prevents system shutdown due to a faulty module.

Plug-and-Play

Regarding the Plug-and-Play battery solution, the company stated that it allows for efficient installation and eliminates the pre-charging process, reducing the efforts and time required during parallel connection and maintenance.

“When new batteries are added, the APX HV system dynamically recognizes and automatically updates the software to the latest version of the previous batteries,” highlighted the manufacturer.

Compatibility

With a maximum parallel expansion to 60 kWh of electricity per two sets, the battery is compatible with single-phase, two-phase and three-phase inverters including MIN 2500-6000TL-XH, MIN 3000-11400TL-XH-US and MOD 3-10KTL3-XH for residential application as well as the MID 12-30KTL3-XH for commercial application.
