A Heineken, a company that uses 100% renewable energy throughout its production process, took advantage of the beginning of Rock in Rio to create a billboard that chills beers using solar energy.

Os photovoltaic panels placed on this billboard were connected to the Brewteco, a Rio bar located in the Gávea region, with the objective of drawing attention to the importance of using renewable sources in the day-to-day life of society.

The initiative consolidates the company's sustainability goal of ensuring that 50% of Heineken bars and points of sale in 19 capital cities have renewable energy by 2030.

The project also aims to highlight the Heineken Green Energy Program, aimed at facilitating access to Green Energy for consumers across the country. “This billboard is chilling your Heineken. Cheers”, says the text placed on the billboard.

Investments in renewables

By 2040, Heineken aims to achieve carbon neutrality across its entire value chain. According to the company, since 2020 all production has been carried out with 100% renewable energy at the factories in Alagoinhas (BA), Araraquara (SP), Ponta Grossa (PR) and, until 2023, in Jacareí (SP).

At the beginning of the year, the company announced investments of more than R$320 million in the State of São Paulo to reinforce the agenda of best environmental and social practices with the use of renewable energy.

In addition to solar energy, the resources were directed to the expansion of biomass boilers, gains in water efficiency and the growth of initiatives aimed at the circularity of glass packaging.
