The AgriPV – UFSC project, inaugurated on October 17th, combines solar energy and agricultural production on the Florianópolis campus, in partnership with Epagri and using Hoymiles microinverter technology. In the first 30 days, the system already generated 2,29 MWh, monitored by 16 HMS-2000DW-4T microinverters connected to 64 photovoltaic modules.

According to engineer Saulo Oliveira: “We opted for Hoymiles microinverters because of their efficiency and reliability, especially in scenarios with partial shading. MLPE technology allows for individual monitoring of the modules, optimizing generation and reducing losses throughout the day.”

The project has approximately 100 kWp distributed among conventional, bifacial, and semi-transparent modules, with fixed structures and solar trackers. The diversity of configurations allows for analysis of how module positioning and shading impact both energy generation and crop development.

Sanitary engineer Laís Vidotto reinforces the academic relevance of the pilot project:

"We seek to understand how to balance energy generation and agricultural production, maximizing land use and creating more sustainable models for the future of agriculture."

UFSC coordinator Marília Braga highlights the technological innovation of the project:

“Integrating solar tracking algorithms with crop data adjusts the movement of the modules to benefit both energy generation and plant development.”

The architect and urban planner Isadora, responsible for the system's layout, explains:

“We studied urban shading and shading between the modules themselves to position the planting beds in a way that optimizes cultivation, drip irrigation, and energy efficiency.”

Débora Garcez, LATAM Marketing Manager at Hoymiles, emphasizes the importance of the partnership:

“Seeing our technology applied in an academic environment and generating concrete data about the potential of solar energy in the field is a source of great pride. Hoymiles microinverters connect scientific knowledge to the real needs of the market.”

The AgriPV–UFSC project demonstrates how the integration of research, technology, and agricultural practices can create sustainable, efficient, and applicable solutions for the future of rural production.
