More than 5 thousand people participated in the two days of Intersolar Summit Nordeste, held this Wednesday (10) and Thursday (11) in Fortaleza (CE), according to the organization. In total, the event was attended by 100 exhibitors, including manufacturers, distributors and financial institutions.

In addition to the fair, the event included a technical conference and short courses on photovoltaic technologies, energy storage, green hydrogen and electric mobility. The event was organized by Aranda Eventos & Congressos, in collaboration with Solar Promotion International GmbH from Germany.

At the opening of the congress, Florian Wessendorf, general director of Solar Promotion International GmbH, highlighted the importance of the event for promoting the solar market. “We are here to discuss the future of society as a whole. Our mission is to provide opportunities to expand solar photovoltaic generation in the Northeast of Brazil,” he highlighted.

Jurandir Picanço, energy consultant at the Federation of Industries of the State of Ceará, emphasized the potential of the Northeast in the production of green hydrogen and stated that Brazil must have a project anchored in the energy transition.

Another point highlighted was the potential of the energy storage market for the Brazilian electrical system. For Markus Vlasits, congress consultant and director of NewCharge, the technology brings energy security, along with the growing participation of non-renewable renewable sources, such as solar.

In the opinion of Joaquim Rolim, executive secretary of Industry at SDE (Secretariat for Economic Development), he commented on the importance of the event as a vector for inducing business and strategic discussions about the renewables market.

“We have treated the renewable sector as strategic for the state and we seek to enable more and more businesses that drive the energy transition”, he pointed out.

Central themes of the congress

On the first day of the congress, the panels addressed the evolution of DG (distributed generation) in the Northeast region. During his speech, Luis Carlos Gadelha, president of Sindienergia (Union of Energy and Services Industries of the State of Ceará), highlighted the importance of a centralized government strategy to explore the sector's potential in a more assertive way.

The panel also featured the participation of Rodrigo Sauaia, president of ABSOLAR (), who emphasized how dialogue between federal, state and municipal public authorities is vital to boost the presence of GD.

He also considered that an important factor in accelerating the growth of distributed generation is the increase in access to credit to finance photovoltaic projects.

The advancement of GC (centralized generation) in Brazil was also one of the topics discussed among congress participants. In the assessment of Filipe Souza, project development manager at Kroma Energia, the drop in CAPEX (Capital Expenditure – Capital Expenditure) has been one of the factors that have positively impacted the viability of large projects.

Márcio Trannin, general director of South America at Sunco Capital, added that the country's current scenario, with potential and investment possibilities, is a great opportunity for investors and companies operating in the segment.

Mateus Kleming, Green Hydrogen Project Manager at Casa dos Ventos, also commented on the centralized generation market, citing the company's green hydrogen project in the Pecém Complex.

Also on the first day, short courses were given on sizing energy storage systems and operation optimization using AI (artificial intelligence), photovoltaic energy for green hydrogen production and the influence of over-irradiance in photovoltaic plants: problems and solutions.

On the second day, green hydrogen was once again highlighted with the panel “Hydrogen in the NE: technology, public policies and value chain”, taught by Joaquim Rolim, Executive Secretary of Industry at SDE, and Jurandir Picanço, energy consultant at FIEC.

Advances in the energy storage market were also discussed by Ricardo Estefano, head of Battery Energy Storage Systems at WEG; Aldhir Alves, Sales Engineer at Grupo Moura; and Breno Machado, commercial director at UCB Power.

Finally, electric mobility was explored by Rafael Cunha, COO of movE Eletromobilidade; Cesare Quinteiro, CEO of movE Eletromobilidade; Delfina Pontes, superintendent of Smart Solutions at Neoenergia; and Nivton Rocha, CEO of GPM Soluções e Sistemas.

The professionals brought figures from the electric mobility market and discussed what business opportunities professionals working in the solar energy market can take advantage of to increase the portfolio of services offered to end consumers.
