A small fire mobilized residents and security teams in a condominium in Londrina (PR) after flames reached part of the solar energy system installed in the residence of influencer Jessica Sabbag and singer Antony Corrêa, from the country music duo Antony & Gabriel.

Security cameras at the house show the moment Jessica notices smoke outside while hanging clothes on a portable clothesline. Startled, she runs inside to get her young son, the nanny, and the pets.

The fire was quickly brought under control by neighbors and the building's security team, who used fire extinguishers until the Fire Department arrived. The rapid response prevented the incident from escalating.

“When I looked up, it was already starting to catch fire. I had to run and make decisions very quickly,” Jessica recounted in a video posted on social media alongside her husband.

Images circulating on social media show flames consuming a photovoltaic inverter installed in the residence. The causes of the incident are still under investigation.

Antony, who was traveling at the time, received the news in shock. "Jessica called me in a panic saying that a fire had started. It's something you never imagine will happen to you," he said in the video he posted.

The couple also thanked the condominium staff who volunteered to fight the flames before the firefighters arrived. "If it weren't for them rushing in (into the backyard) with the fire extinguishers, who knows what would have happened," said Jessica.

Solar energy is safe, but requires maintenance.

Despite the scare, Geraldo Silveira, the engineer responsible for CS Consulting, group company Canal A company specializing in solar power plant projects emphasizes that incidents like these are rare.

"Just like any system, whether it's a car or household equipment, solar installations also need periodic maintenance. Solar energy is safe, and when we look at the total number of installations in Brazil, the cases of..." fire "They are statistically low. But, to maintain this safety, regular maintenance and inspection is essential," he explains.

Silveira points out that, generally, most incidents are related to connection failures, which can generate hotspots – the so-called hotspotsThese defects are often not visible to the naked eye, but can be identified through thermographic inspection.

“Periodic thermographic inspections, visual inspections, and retightening of all connections are recommended, especially in direct current circuits, which tend to sustain electrical arcs if there are gaps or poor contact. At this stage, it is essential to check not only the condition of the MC4 connectors, but the overall condition of all system connections, ensuring that there are no signs of overheating, wear, or loosening,” the engineer pointed out.

The professional also highlighted that serious installation flaws tend to manifest themselves during energization or in the first weeks of operation, reinforcing the importance of a well-structured maintenance plan.

“It is essential that consumers receive clear guidance on the necessary care for the system and are aware of the costs involved in periodic maintenance. Cleaning the modules and checking the connections, especially those for direct current, should be carried out regularly,” he warned.

Why don't they include the inverter brand in the article?
