Second study published by EPE (Energy Research Company), were invested more than R$740 billion between 2010 and 2022 in electrical energy in Brazil, with annual values exceeding R$60 billion.
Regarding annual investments in MMGD (distributed micro and mini generation), the same have more than doubled in recent years. photovoltaic source, in this case, had a wide predominance in the contributions of this segment.
Below are the graphs that show the numbers achieved by the MMGD sector:

Centralized generation
Another point highlighted by the research is that practically half of the investments between 2010 and 2020 were made in the centralized generation segment – totaling R$353,6 billion -, with almost 90% focused on renewable sources.
Between 2010 and 2012, for example, the most significant portion of contributions to energy generation projects was from hydroelectric sources. As of 2013, contributions made to wind source projects began to have similar relevance, becoming the largest amount between the parties as of 2018.
We also emphasize the investments made in centralized solar photovoltaic generation projects, which began in 2016 and, in 2020, became the second largest portion among the amounts observed.

Investments in energy efficiency
According to the EPE report, between 2010 and 2020, the average annual investment in energy efficiency was almost R$700 million, with an accumulated total of more than R$8,5 billion.

Investment in R&D
For Research & Development, the average annual investment was around R$740 million between 2010 and 2020, totaling more than R$8 billion in contributions in the segment.

Distribution and transmission of electrical energy
In total, more than R$ 186 billion were invested in electrical energy distribution over the 2010 – 2020 horizon. With annual values tending to grow, the electrical energy distribution segment presented an average investment of over R$ 16 billion over the horizon .
In relation to transmission, more than R$160 billion were invested between 2010 and 2020. In recent years, there has been a greater representation of investments in transmission lines compared to values associated with substations.
