According to the Strategic Study of Distributed Generation da greener, Jinko Solar led the volume of imported photovoltaic modules last year with 3.065 MWp.

Among the 71 brands that supplied solar panels to Brazil, the 10 with highest volume were responsible for 81% of the total imported.

Furthermore, the consultancy pointed out that the volume of modules demanded by the Brazilian market in 2022 to meet solar generation exceeded 17 GW, an increase of 73% compared to 2021 (10,3 GW).

In total, according to the research, investments of more than R$64 billion were made possible for both DG (distributed generation) and GC (centralized generation).

Modules: import costs and prices

Another point emphasized by Greener is that international freight presented an 85% reduction in January 2023 compared to January 2022, positively impacting import costs.

Regarding the cost of solar panels in Brazil, there was a drop throughout 2022, with a 20% reduction in January 2023 compared to January of the previous year.

“In addition to the decrease in the FOB (free on board) price of the module, the devaluation of the dollar and freight contributed to the drop in costs”, they concluded.
