Karpowership has announced its intention to enable up to 2 GW of power generation projects for the upcoming Capacity Reserve Auction. Initially scheduled to take place on June 27, the The contest was suspended due to court decisions that question its rules and guidelines.
According to Beyza Özdemir, the company's commercial director for the Americas, Karpowership's strategy is to maintain a diversified portfolio, which includes everything from gas-fired thermoelectric solutions to alternative sources such as solar energy, green hydrogen, reforestation and research and development projects focused on energy efficiency.
“Our goal is to contribute to Brazil’s energy security by offering rapid response technologies and flexible dispatch solutions,” said the executive in a press release.
With confirmed participation in COP30 – which will take place from November 10 to 21, in Belém (PA) – Özdemir said that the company will defend natural gas as a strategic vector in the energy transition. “The event will be an essential platform to present hybrid, sustainable solutions aligned with the new global energy mix,” he highlighted.

The company currently operates four floating thermal generation and regasification plants, totaling 560 MW of installed capacity, all located in the state of Rio de Janeiro.
