Kstar invests in products with AFCI function in the Brazilian market

Manufacturer is expanding operations in the country with inverters that have an interruption system for arc faults

Aiming expand the performance in the Brazilian photovoltaic market, Kstar announced that it will bring advanced solar energy solutions to the development of new projects in the country.

“With a focus on the efficiency of the energy transition and a high level of security in Brazil, we are increasingly developing equipped inverters to Olos technology AFCI function (interruption system for arc faults)”, highlighted the company.

“During the past few years, Kstar has participated in many significant projects covering global areas. The growing market in Brazil made it important for us to expand our efforts in the region, not only following the rules, but also considering customers more”, they highlighted.

According to the manufacturer, the local team is ready for future opportunities, supported by sales support to increase customer satisfaction. “We even offer a 10-year warranty on tariff-free products.”

Ordinance No. 140

Kstar also mentioned that it strictly complies with Ordinance No. 140, in March 2022, of INMETRO (National Institute of Metrology, Quality and Technology), which established the new criteria for conformity assessment requirements applicable to equipment intended for production , conditioning and energy storage in photovoltaic systems.

Does every inverter have an AFCI system?

AFCI is a safety system that can be built into the inverter. Its function is to monitor the occurrence of series-type electrical arcs, which are arcs caused by poor contacts in direct current installations (that is, in the module circuits).

These bad contacts can be present in the connection of the string cables at the inverter input, at any point in the stringbox or even in the connectors on the panels on the roof.
Although it is an important feature, not all manufacturers have this functionality. AFCI is not a mandatory feature in Brazil and few pieces of equipment available on the market have this function.
