A LONG Solar announced, earlier this week, a agreement to supply 406 MW of Hi-MO 5 bifacial modules for the construction company SepcoIII Electric Power for the development of the Red Sea Project, in Saudi Arabia.
According to the Chinese manufacturer, this is a project that will be entirely powered by renewable energy on a scale “never before seen anywhere in the world”, through solar panels and wind turbines. At this first moment, the LONGi It will meet an initial demand of 210 MW, with plans to carry out further expansion in the future.
A Red Sea Development Company, developer of the tourism project, awarded its highest value contract to date to a consortium led by Acwa Power to design, build, operate and transfer the project's utility infrastructure, generating up to 650.000 MWh and avoiding around half a million tons of CO2 per year.
O agreement also covers the construction of three seawater reverse osmosis plants, designed to provide clean drinking water, a solid waste management center and an innovative sewage treatment plant, which is expected to allow waste to be managed in a way that improves the environment, creating new wetland habitats and complementing the site with irrigation water for landscaping.
