According to FIFA (the International Football Federation) and the UN (United Nations), Forest Green Rovers is the most environmentally friendly football club in the world – the only one with a carbon neutrality certificate. The team plays in the fourth division of the English league and is currently in 6th place – in the last six games they have lost five and drawn one.

This performance on the field may not be the best, but when it comes to sustainability, the club has been leading the world in the race for renewable energy. Based in Gloucestershire, England, it has implemented several environmentally friendly measures since 2010. The club's electricity, for example, comes from photovoltaic (a solar energy system installed on the roof of the New Lawn stadium) and wind energy.

Furthermore, it has a lawn mower that uses photovoltaic technology, a charging point for EVs (electric vehicles), an electric van that carries the players' equipment, as well as uniforms made with bamboo charcoal and the lawn is irrigated with collected water. of the rain.

future

Looking to the future, Forest Green Rovers have announced plans to build a new 5,000-capacity stadium called Eco Park in Stroud over the next two years. The stadium will be made mainly of wood and will feature a solar power system. The club has announced plans to undertake reforestation projects.
