Minas Gerais reached an unprecedented milestone in Brazil earlier this week. The state is the first to reach 100,000 grid-connected solar energy generation systems.
The survey was carried out and released this Monday (2) by ABSOLAR (Brazilian Association of Photovoltaic Solar Energy), based on data from ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency).
The Agency's data also shows that the commercial consumption class leads, with 16,507 systems installed and connected to the network.
The residential class appears in second place, with 69,062 systems and the rural class in third, with 12,341 units generating energy through solar sources. Still according to the survey, there are more than 135 thousand consumers taking advantage of this clean, sustainable and economical source.
Furthermore, the state of Minas Gerais leads the state ranking of photovoltaic DG (distributed generation) with 1.5 GW of power – which represents almost 20% of the country's total installed capacity. In second place is São Paulo, with 0.78 GW of power, and in third place is Rio Grande do Sul, with 0.77 GW of installed capacity.
