O Brazil got in the month of June um increase of 165,6 MW in electric matrix, being 82,85% (137,2 MW) of the amount native solar and wind energy sources, according to calculations recently released by ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency).
Of the total energy added in June, more than half (52,9%) came from wind farm generation (87,6 MW). Another 49,6 MW was added through solar (30%) e 28,4 MW from thermoelectric plants (17,1%).
In total, expansion in the first half of 2022 was 2.328 MW, with new projects in 13 states in four Brazilian regions. The states with the highest increase were Rio Grande do Norte (521,1 MW), Bahia (491,8 MW) and Paraná (311,9 MW).

In addition to this data, the ANEEL also released the total installed capacity in Brazil in the first half of the year: 183.593,3 MW, of which 83,14% of the plants were driven by sources considered sustainable, with low greenhouse gas emissions.

According to data from ANEEL, at the moment, large solar power plants represent 2,87% of the total Brazilian energy matrix. In January, the percentage was less than 2,4%. By 2031, the forecast of Federal government is that the solar source is responsible for around 17% of the electrical matrix.

The ever-increasing expansion of solar energy is due to the large number of projects that have been approved and are awaiting approval to be implemented. In total, more than 80% of all projects with construction not yet started in the country are solar power plants, according to the ANEEL.
