New line of three-phase Synergy inverters from SolarEdge

Synergy line equipment is available in Brazil for three-phase networks of 220V/127V and 380V/220V, in powers of 75 kW, 100 kW and 120 kW.

Synergy technology allows rapid commissioning and integration of inverters through a concentrator box called Synergy Manager, which has monitoring and protection functions.

The following figures show how a SolarEdge Synergy system is built. Setting up a system involves the DC and AC connections between the Synergy Manager and the inverters, the connection of communication cables, and the DC and AC connections of the Synergy Manager to the photovoltaic strings and the electrical grid, respectively.

In addition to the concentration function of strings and AC connections, the Synergy Manager incorporates monitoring, protection, sectioning functionalities and also has advanced features of protection against electric arc (AFCI – arc fault current switch) and reduction of the PID effect (potential induced degradation) of photovoltaic modules.

Key Features

One of the great advantages of Synergy technology is resource centralization, as Synergy Manager incorporates features that would normally be integrated into inverters.

By removing some functionalities from the inverters, centralizing them in Synergy Manager, inverters are obtained that are more compact, lighter and with a better cost-benefit ratio.

An interesting aspect of this new technology is that the inverters can be pre-commissioned without the need for connection to the electrical grid. The installer can verify that all connections are correct, can verify that the inverters are correctly configured and that they are communicating with the monitoring platform.

Pre-commissioning requires a power bank (the type used to charge cell phones) connected to the Synergy Manager's USB-C input.

Pre-commissioning can be completely carried out before connecting to the grid. SolarEdge's SetApp application guides the user throughout the process, until completion, when the “Activation Complete” message is obtained.

An interesting feature of SolarEdge's Synergy line is the presence of temperature sensors at the terminals of the Synergy Manager's DC and AC connections, which ensures safe operation and enables automatic system shutdown in the event of a failure.

The Synergy Manager also has an anti-PID feature, which regenerates the photovoltaic cells at night. The PID (potential induced degradation) effect is one of the main causes of failure and degradation of photovoltaic modules over time.

  • Integrated with thermal sensors for cabling fault detection ensuring enhanced protection and safety
  • Integrated arc protection
  • Built-in PID mitigation to maximize system performance
  • Monitored* and replaceable surge protection device for greater protection against surges caused by discharges or other events: Integrated with DPS type 2, RS485 and DC (optional DPS AC type 2)
  • Optional integrated DC disconnect switch, eliminating the need for an external string box
  • Integrated module-level monitoring with Ethernet or cellular communication for full system visibility
