The governor of Rio de Janeiro, Cláudio Castro, sanctioned on Friday (26) Law 9,468/21, which allows consumers of photovoltaic electricity to have their CPF or CNPJ registered in more than one consumer unit.
Authored by deputy Jair Bittencourt (PP), the law also provides for exemption from ICMS for taxpayers with distributed microgeneration or minigeneration of photovoltaic energy and who inject surplus energy production from their modules into the electrical grid.
The standard applies to rural or urban areas and will be permitted once there is technical feasibility. Otherwise, the energy company has up to 365 days to make the necessary technical adjustments.
“The installation and adaptation of solar energy systems in more than one property contributes to savings through cost reduction, in addition to the undeniable advantage to the environment”, explained Bittencourt.
Also according to the parliamentarian, encouraging the use of photovoltaic solar energy in the state is essential to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions, especially given the consequences of global warming on biodiversity and human beings.
According to data from ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency), Rio de Janeiro is in seventh place in the ranking of Brazilian states in DG (Distributed Generation) production.
