O Brazilian Northeast produced more than 9.200 MWmed of wind and solar energy in January, a volume equivalent to the generation capacity of two plants the size of Belo Monte, according to CCEE (Electric Energy Trading Chamber).

The entity highlighted the region's potential as one of Brazil's main advantages for advancing in the renewable hydrogen market, which has these two sources as the main raw materials for manufacturing the input.

“We will soon have the first global auction, in Germany, and we are ready to certify companies that are interested in this negotiation, which will certainly be a milestone for the sector”, stated Ricardo Gedra, Market Analysis and Information manager at CCEE.

In January, Rio Grande do Norte led with wind generation, supplying the grid with 2.959 MWmed, followed by Bahia (2.477 MWmed), Ceará (1.009 MWmed), Piauí (891 MWmed), Pernambuco (326 MWmed), Paraíba (231 MWmed ) and Maranhão (181 MWmed).

In photovoltaic solar generation, Bahia came out ahead with production of 393 MWmed, followed by Piauí (276 MWmed), Ceará (171 MWmed), Paraíba (123 MWmed), Pernambuco (83 MWmed) and Rio Grande do Norte (70 MWmed ).
