Os off-grid photovoltaic systems have been gaining more and more space in the solar energy market – offering the consumer a stable and clean energy source, free from fluctuations or interruptions in the public grid.

With the advancement of storage technologies, models have become a viable option for a variety of applications, such as in rural properties, residences, communities and even in commercial establishments.

Um A recent example comes from Ilhabela, in the interior of São Paulo, where several off-grid projects are being installed. Among them, one that was implemented in The German Kiosk, on Castelhanos Beach, which has a 4,36 kWp power plant equipped with a Growatt SPF5000ES inverter and two 4,8 kWh 48 V Dyness lithium batteries.

Second Isaac Rodrigues, designer and founder of Ilha Power Solar, company responsible for the installation – which has more than 80 off-grid projects in its portfolio in Ilhabela – the client used to spend 243 liters of diesel per month, which represented R$ 1.701, in addition to R$ 250 in maintenance and logistics costs for transporting the diesel.

“Now, consumption has been reduced to 22 liters, or around R$154 of diesel – with R$175 in maintenance and logistics. The payback is two years and nine months, with a total investment of R$50.785,39”, reported Rodrigues.

Other successful cases

The Tangará Restaurant, located on Jabaquara Beach, also opted for an off-grid system. With a 5,52 kWp plant, the enterprise has a Growatt SPF10000T inverter and four 4,8 kWh 48 V lithium batteries from Dyness. Previously, the customer spent 572 liters of diesel per month, equivalent to R$4.004, in addition to R$1.000 in maintenance and logistics for transporting the fuel.

“Today, consumption has fallen to 150 liters, around R$1.050 – with R$500 in maintenance and logistics. The project’s payback is one year and eight months, with an investment of R$57.093,67,” Rodrigues highlighted.

Another example is Bernard Charles Fonteneau, who installed an off-grid system at his home. The plant has 13,86 kWp, equipped with two SPF5000ES inverters and one SPF5000TLHVM-48P inverter from Growatt, in addition to six AXE 5,0 lithium batteries from Growatt and three 3,6 kWh 48 V lithium batteries from Dyness. Before the installation, the customer consumed 490 liters of diesel per month, at a cost of R$ 3.430, in addition to R$ 500 in maintenance and logistics.

“After installation, monthly consumption was reduced to 44 liters of diesel, at a cost of R$308. Maintenance and logistics costs also fell to R$250. The payback period is three years and two months, with a total investment of R$119.351,43,” concluded the designer.

These examples show how off-grid systems can not only reduce costs and dependence on fossil fuels, but also promote more sustainable and economical energy for a variety of applications, from small businesses to homes.

I already have a system without batteries, I would like to know if we can adapt the batteries?

Yes, you can. There may be a need for some changes to the system.
