At the end of the session, at 13 pm, general director Sandoval Feitosa revealed that he would next meet with the MME

Around 8:30 am this Tuesday (15th) Brazilians found themselves in the middle of a series of failures in the electricity supply. At 9 am, in Brasília, the 29th ordinary meeting of the ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency).

In it, still without further information on the causes of the blackouts, the collegiate board approved, among other deliberations, adjustments in energy tariffs distributed by Equatorial Pará Distribuidora de Energia SA and Celesc Distribuidora SA

At the end of the session, at 13 pm, general director Sandoval Feitosa revealed that he would meet next, at 14 pm, at the MME (Ministry of Mines and Energy) to investigate the reasons for the systemic failure in energy distribution.

SIN failure generates blackout and leaves several states without power

He also informed that the South, Southeast and Center-West regions had already had their supply reestablished and were functioning normally, that the Northeast region was undergoing advanced reestablishment and that the North region was still suffering from the lack of supply.

“All large-scale events that occur in the Brazilian transmission system have regulations to assess the causes. A working group, a crisis room, was convened to evaluate the events, their causes, their repercussions and, above all, identify the causes to avoid them in the future”, declared the general director.

He then informed that the crisis cabinet group comprises, in addition to Aneel, the ONS (National System Operator), EPE (Energy Research Company) and the MME. He also said that representation of companies involved in what he called a “major event” would not be ruled out.

New tariffs

Celesc: 4,11% average adjustment for consumers connected to low voltage and -0,81% for those connected to high voltage, effective from August 22nd of this year.

Equatorial Pará Distribuidora de Energia: 9,89% for consumers connected to low voltage and 15,79% for those connected to high voltage, effective from August 7th.

Removed from the agenda

Process 48500.001699/2023-15 was removed from the agenda, with requests for precautionary measures, filed by Solatio Energy Gestão de Projetos Solares Ltda. with a view to signing CUST (Transmission System Use Contracts) and CCT (Connection Contracts) referring to the Photovoltaic Generating Plants – UFVs Morro Preto 1 to 40, with connection to the Janaúba 6 Substation, with 500 kV, and with a view to guarantee of a place in the energy flow access queue in the SIN (National Interconnected System).
