The ONS (National Electric System Operator) forecasts investments of R$ 28,1 billion in 480 strategic projects by 2030. These projects include over 5,3 kilometers of new transmission lines and an increase of 24,3 MVA in substations, strengthening the country's energy infrastructure.
The projects are part of the PAR/PEL 2025 (Medium-Term Electrical Operation Plan), developed by the Operator. According to Alexandre Zucarato, Planning Director of the ONS (National System Operator), the projects were classified by priority and are accompanied by structural actions to guarantee the robustness of the operation in the coming years.
Of the total projected, R$ 22,7 billion corresponds to projects indicated for the first time.
According to the ONS (National System Operator), the works planned for the period between 2026 and 2030 represent a 3% increase in the extent of the transmission network and a 5,7% increase in the installed transformer capacity of the Basic Network and the Border Basic Network, compared to the current structure.
The study also projects significant growth in energy demand. The expectation is that the peak load of the SIN (National Interconnected System) will reach approximately 129 GW in 2030, representing a 17% increase compared to 2025.
The total installed capacity of the system is expected to reach 269 GW, with approximately 60 GW coming from centralized wind and solar power plants.
Another area covered in the plan is... expansion of energy exchange between the country's regions. ONS also reported that it projects a 20% increase in the receiving capacity of the Southern region from the Southeast/Central-West by the end of the decade.
There are also plans to expand trade between the North and Northeast regions and the Southeast/Central-West regions.
The receiving capacity is expected to grow by approximately 25%, increasing from 18.500 MW in January 2026 to 23.000 MW in January 2030, with the commissioning of a set of projects scheduled for July 2030.
