ONS (National Electric System Operator) reported that it activated for the first time this Sunday (7) the plan created to deal with generation surpluses in the SIN (National Interconnected System), with cuts in plants connected to the distribution network.
In a note sent to Canal SolarThe ONS (National System Operator) reported that it requested the management of 1.000 MW between 10 am and 14 pm. "The measure was indicated to balance the high generation of micro and mini-distributed generation, combined with a lower load due to the long weekend because of the holiday." Corpus Christi"The Operator highlighted."
Although power outages have been part of the routine for large-scale solar and wind power plants for some years now (a phenomenon known in the industry as curtailmentThis is the first time the mechanism has been applied to smaller power plants connected to the distribution network.
According to ONS, distributors were informed about the measure on Saturday (6) and proceeded with the necessary maneuvers to maintain the balance of the SIN. Additionally, ONS implemented complementary operational measures to reduce generation.
"It is worth highlighting that, in real time, the ONS kept the agents updated and coordinated actions in the SIN, managing available resources according to the demand of society, in direct communication with the sector's agents," the entity emphasized.
Finally, the ONS (National System Operator) reported that it remains attentive to what it called a "new electrical energy reality" and that it is "working to ensure the safety and efficiency of the system, in accordance with current network procedures."
