The City of Palmas (TO) inaugurated, this Tuesday (17), the Municipal Solar Park, located in the Arnaud Rodrigues Convention Center.
The project's objective is to supply all administrative buildings in the capital of Tocantins, as well as health units, fairs and public squares.
With an installed capacity of 8,3 MW, the park represents an estimated average annual savings of R$11,2 million for the municipality.
The initial phase of the installation has 8.110 solar panels, the result of an investment of R$24 million.
When completed, the project will have a total of 15.710 photovoltaic modules, expected to generate 12,8 million kWh annually.
The park occupies an area of 41 thousand m² and includes a system carport with 1,2 solar panels, installed over 160 new parking spaces. In addition to providing shade for vehicles, the system contributes to the generation of clean energy.
“We are taking advantage of a degraded area of the former Cesamar Park. With this, we are complying with the Palmas Solar Legislation, which establishes the use of degraded areas for generating solar energy,” explains Fábio Frantz, secretary of Sehafes (Municipal Secretariat for Housing, Land Affairs and Sustainable Energy).
“We are recovering this location, concentrating the plant, thus facilitating the maintenance and operation of the Solar Park to optimize the management of the system and bring savings to the municipality,” highlighted the executive.
The initiative is part of other sustainable actions by the city government, such as the photovoltaic systems already installed in 80% of municipal schools, which have a total capacity of 3,8 MW, with 7,6 thousand solar panels.
In addition, another 504 panels were installed at the city's fairs, reinforcing Palmas' commitment to energy transition and sustainability.
