O Government of Pará studies creating a specific program to expand the use of solar energy in the region, covering: tax improvements, easier access to credit lines, simplification of environmental licensing, incorporation of photovoltaic systems in new public buildings and affordable housing, among other actions.

A proposal he was discussed this week, in meeting led by the governor of the state, Helder Barbalho, and the vice-governor, Hana Ghassan Tuma. The meeting also featured the participation of ABSOLATE (Brazilian Association of Photovoltaic Solar Energy), led by Rodrigo Sauaia, CEO of the association, and Daniel Sobrinho, state coordinator of the entity in the state.

During the meeting, also strategies were discussed to accelerate the attraction of new investments, generation of jobs and income, and creation of business opportunities in solar energy no stop.

Forms of the state reduce electricity costs in public power buildings through solar energy so that sustainability is strengthened and the state's role in combating climate change is increased, were also debated.

At the meeting, the ABSOLATE also declared support to the state's candidacy and its capital, Belém, to host COP 30 (Conference of the United Nations on Climate Change) in 2025.

According to Sauaia, the state of Pará has “immense potential” to generate solar energy, but it is still little used. Therefore, he believes that the implementation of a state program would be a fundamental step to accelerate the use of technology in the region.

“This is a strategic measure to encourage the population, small businesses, rural producers and public managers to reduce their expenses with electricity, through the generation of their own solar electricity, which is cheaper, more sustainable and without greenhouse gas emissions. greenhouse”, he highlighted.

With this, according to him, it would be possible to attract new investments and boost the local economy. “Public policy can play an important role in favor of the sustainable development of the region, contributing to increasing the competitiveness of products and services from Pará and relieving family budgets”, emphasized Sauaia.

Currently, own solar generation in Pará covers more than 51.2 thousand consumers, with more than 44.7 thousand systems installed on roofs, facades and small plots of land, spread across 142 cities, or 98.6% of the 144 municipalities in Pará.

Since 2012, the solar sector has brought more than R$ 2.6 billion in new investments to Pará, generated more than 15.1 thousand new jobs and provided more than R$ 690 million to public coffers.
