The average price of solar energy in Brazil for homes fell 5% in the third quarter of 2024 compared to the previous period, falling from R$2,66 to R$2,53 per Wp. The drop was driven by the reduction in the cost of photovoltaic equipment.

The data was mapped in the Radar study, carried out by Soleasy and which evaluates the price of photovoltaic kits in the country on a quarterly basis. “The reduction was even more significant in projects with a capacity greater than 15 kWp, which recorded a 10% drop”, highlights the research.

According to the survey, these systems, which serve companies and industries, now cost R$2,28/Wp, which represented a “significant change for a segment that traditionally had greater resistance to price reductions”.

The more affordable offer for large consumers is seen as a relief by Solfácil, which believes that this can boost the adoption of new projects in the corporate sector.

“We are experiencing a milestone in solar energy in Brazil. The cost of distributed generation has never been so affordable. Brazil is already one of the main solar markets in the world and with the continuous decrease in costs, it is expected that more people will choose to invest in this economical and sustainable source of energy”, said Fabio Carrara, CEO and founder of Solfácil.

States that saw the biggest drop in prices

In the state ranking, Minas Gerais stood out with the biggest price drop in the third quarter, recording a 14% reduction, which took the cost to R$2,70/Wp.

Sergipe also had a significant reduction of 12%, followed by Goiás (10%, to R$ 2,46/Wp). In São Paulo, the price fell 8%, reaching R$ 2,43/Wp, and Alagoas followed the same trend, closing the quarter at R$2,35/Wp.

On the other hand, the Rio Grande do Sul was the only state that did not see a drop in the price of solar energy, keeping its prices stable after the impacts of the floods that occurred in the second quarter.

“The stability of costs in the southern region, even with a 3% drop in the quarter, consolidated the region as one of the most expensive in the country for solar energy, surpassed only by the North, which registered a timid reduction of 3%”, assesses the mapping.

Inverter brands reposition themselves

The inverter market has also undergone significant changes, according to Solfácil. The company highlights that Goodwe has surpassed Deye and has become the most popular brand in financing requests in Brazil.

In the company's assessment, Deye, traditionally strong in smaller systems, continues to dominate in this segment, but Goodwe has been gaining ground in larger projects.

Another highlight of the Radar study was Solis. The inverter manufacturer stood out with significant growth in the Brazilian solar energy market, marking its presence among the most sought-after brands.

The company not only consolidated its position in the sector, but also surpassed Growatt and reached third place in the quarterly ranking of most requested brands. This advance reflects consumer confidence in Solis and reinforces its leading role in the inverter market in Brazil.
