Data from Infolink Consulting's new weekly bulletin indicate that the production cost of 210mm mono PERC solar cells fell 5,1% between the first and second week of 2025, falling from US$0,039/W to US$0,037/W.
This is yet another price decline in the market. Over the last 12 months, the average price of this type of cell has fallen by 32%, as in January of last year the production cost was US$ 0,052/W.
On the other hand, Mono PERC cells 182 mm showed an increase: the average price rose from US$ 0,038/W to US$ 0,041/W between the first and second week of this month.
In relation to other inputs in the production chain, such as polysilicon, wafers and photovoltaic modules, the company's new bulletin did not identify significant reductions in relation to the previous week, when there was fall in production costs, for example, of photovoltaic modules.
Mono PERC Cells
Mono PERC photovoltaic cells are produced from monocrystalline silicon and use a passivation technology on both the emitter (front) and the rear face, reducing losses due to electron recombination and increasing the efficiency of converting light into electricity.
Although they have become quite popular and represent a huge leap in efficiency compared to conventional cells, PERCs have been losing ground to TOPCon cells, which – despite having a higher cost – they generally achieve higher efficiencies.
Infolink Bulletin
The Infolink Bulletin is a regular publication by the research and consulting company Infolink Consulting, specializing in the global photovoltaic market.
It analyzes factors such as input production costs and price trends in the solar production chain and market prospects for different technologies.
Such reports are commonly used by manufacturers, investors and professionals in the solar energy sector to monitor price fluctuations and production strategies, assisting in decision-making and business planning.
