Authorities and specialists from the electrical sector will meet on Tuesday (28), at 9am, in the auditorium of PUC-Rio to debate sustainable urban development in municipalities in the Latin America, with a special focus on energy sector.
The seminar “Enercity – Rio: Capital of Energy Transition in Cities”, parallel to the Rio Capital of the G20, will be an opportunity to debate the energy transition and the role of cities in this process.
According to the organizers of the event, Rio de Janeiro is the energy capital of Brazil, as it concentrates a significant portion of the country's human capital, companies and public institutions dedicated to the energy sector.
Furthermore, the organization highlights that the city is qualified to become a regional and global reference in promoting the engagement of cities in the energy transition journey.
The initiative is part of the objectives of the partnership signed last year between Rio City Hall, through the Municipal Secretariat for Urban and Economic Development and Invest.Rio, UN Habitat and IEPUC (PUC-Rio Energy Institute).
The Seminar “Enercity – Rio: Capital of Energy Transition in Cities” is free, open to the public, and will be attended by the Secretary of Urban and Economic Development, Chicão Bulhões; the rector of PUC-Rio, Anderson Pedroso; the regional representative of UN-Habitat, Elkin V. Monsalve; the professor at the Energy Institute at PUC-Rio, David Zylbersztajn; from the Secretary of Transport, Maína Celidônio.
