The electricity supply was impacted in different parts of Juiz de Fora (MG) and the region after the heavy rains that hit the municipality since the night of last Monday (23).
The storm marked the beginning of a series of events that extended over the following days, leaving residential neighborhoods and essential services without power at various times.
Since then, teams have been working continuously to restore the supply, prioritizing emergency situations and areas considered most critical.
In several locations, however, access remains difficult. Landslides, flooding, and fallen trees have blocked roads and damaged sections of the power grid, requiring safety assessments before repairs can be carried out.
According to Cemig, despite the disruption, there are no reports of major structural damage to the electrical system.
"From a structural point of view, the electrical system has not registered any major impacts so far. The interruptions that have occurred are mainly due to localized damage caused by extreme weather conditions," the company reported.
Most incidents are related to typical severe weather events, such as branches and trees hitting power lines, flooded areas, and unstable slopes that have damaged sections of the power distribution network.
To ensure service is provided to the most affected regions, generators are being sent to the municipality, with priority given to strategic locations and essential services.
Given the situation, the utility company also announced the temporary suspension of power cuts for non-payment for all consumers in Juiz de Fora, while the effects of the storm persist.
