A Sedan (State Secretariat for Environmental Development) Rondônia published the Normative Instruction 06/2023 for environmental licensing of electricity generation projects from photovoltaic solar sources.

The Normative Instruction, in addition to the Environmental Licensing Exemption for energy generation up to 5 MW, will also promote the Simplified Environmental Process from 5 to 10 MW.

According to Marcos Rocha, governor of Rondônia, the normative publication will bring positive results and benefits to the environment in the state.

“Energy generated by solar sources is already a reality, and considering that our climate is favorable for the implementation of this renewable technology, the state of Rondônia is on the right track to contribute to the preservation of the environment”, he stated.

The Environmental Monitoring and Licensing coordinator, Rodrigo Queiroz Papafanurakis, highlighted that the classification of projects based on solar sources, in the State Licensing Law, are carried out by energy potential, which results in a request for EIA/Rima for energy potential above 10MW.

According to data from ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency), Rondônia has around 174.6 MW of installed power in solar energy in the DG (distributed generation) segment. It is currently in 22nd place in the state ranking.

SP surpasses MG and becomes the state with the highest power in solar DG
